If you own a business then you’ve more than likely thought about moving to the cloud, but it’s definitely not easy to make a decision. We’ve decided to put a list of facts together which might help you learn a bit more about how businesses are reacting to the cloud. Here they are:
In 2011 alone, close to 70% of American businesses moved part or all of their IT systems to the cloud
Over 90% of the businesses that moved to the cloud saw improvements in at least one area in their business
Over 60% of companies have reduced their waste as well as their energy consumption thanks to the cloud. These savings are on top of the other savings that are involved with using cloud computing instead of having your own servers etc
For the 3rd year in a row – Amazon Web Services topped the Cloud Computing provider list with an estimated Cloud revenue of $6 billion– and you thought they were just a bookshop
Small and medium sized businesses can do much better when using the cloud. The SMBs that move to the cloud usually see around a 40% growth in revenue after just one year in comparison to SMBs that kept their system on-premise
A recent study conducted by Citrix showed that 51% of people actually think the weather can affect the cloud, which shows that most people have no idea what the cloud is or how it works.
You can see from the above list that the cloud has changed the IT landscape and will continue to do so for many years to come. The worldwide cloud market is reported to grow to over $50 billion by 2015.
There is however a huge shortage of Cloud centric IT professionals – there are currently 1.6 million vacancies in the sector mainly due to lack of experience, training and qualifications.
